Sustainable energy for modern care and living
The Dankensberg Foundation operates a retirement home and nursing home, as well as assisted living apartments, in Beinwil am See. When constructing the new building, the foundation deliberately opted for a future-oriented energy supply, with a high-performance photovoltaic system and an intelligent energy management system from ecocoach.
While the PV system was implemented by WINDGATE, Felix & Co AG, the ecoBatteryHub from ecocoach ensures that the self-generated solar power is used optimally and distributed intelligently. The result: maximum use of self-generated electricity, minimal reliance on the grid, and a sustainable energy future for residents.

Smart storage for maximum use of self-generated electricity
The photovoltaic system comprises 296 Jinko Solar modules with a total output of 134.68 kWp and generates environmentally friendly electricity over an area of over 590 m². Two ecoBatteryHub storage units from ecocoach, with a total capacity of 97.5 kWh, store surplus energy and make it available again when needed.
The system discharges up to 50 kVA, ensuring a constant and reliable energy supply without feeding back into the public grid.
Temporary 0 kW energy recovery – clever use of energy
Since the nursing home's grid connection does not currently allow feed-in to the public grid, the system was designed with zero feed-in. The solar power generated is used entirely in the building:
- surpluses first heat the hot water tank via an electric boiler
- then the battery is charged
- only then is the PV output automatically reduced
The ecoEnergyCoach energy management system from ecocoach fully automatically monitors and controls these processes. If consumption rises again, the PV system or battery storage dynamically adjusts. This creates a perfectly balanced, sustainable energy system without any feed-in, yet with maximum benefit.
Smart energy management system
The ecoEnergyCoach records, optimizes, and visualizes all energy flows between PV, storage, grid, and consumers. This enables the foundation to achieve:
- maximum use of self-generated electricity
- optimization of energy flows for photovoltaics, storage, and hot water
- transparent visualization of energy data in real time
- and a noticeable reduction in operating costs
Commissioning was carried out using the ecoSetupTool, an intuitive installation wizard that enables easy configuration without any programming knowledge.

Showcase project for sustainable care and living concepts
The combination of modern building technology, intelligent control systems, and locally produced energy makes the Dankensberg Foundation a showcase project for sustainable care and living concepts in Switzerland.
It exemplifies how ecological action, social responsibility, and economic efficiency can go hand in hand.

«IN A CARE FACILITY, ENERGY MUST BE RELIABLY AVAILABLE AT ALL TIMES. THANKS TO THE ECOBATTERYHUB AND THE INTELLIGENT ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FROM ECOCOACH, WE CAN MAKE OPTIMAL USE OF THE SOLAR POWER GENERATED BY THE STIFTUNG DANKENSBERG, EVEN WITHOUT FEEDING IT BACK INTO THE GRID. THE SYSTEM FUNCTIONS STABLY, EFFICIENTLY, AND EXACTLY AS PLANNED.»
